Mark has over twenty years of experience as a tax lawyer. He currently acts as tax counsel for several law firms in the Pacific Northwest, providing tax support on the transactional matters handled by those firms.
Mark regularly advises on the structuring of business acquisitions and dispositions, real estate ventures, and executive compensation matters. He also drafts LLC and partnership agreements and advises on certain Washington state tax matters, including business and occupations tax and real estate excise tax. His clients include law firms, individuals, start-up companies, public corporations, private equity funds, tax-exempt organizations, real estate developers and investors.
Mark has been practicing from Missoula, Montana since 2013. Prior to moving to Montana he was the chair of the tax practice group at Foster Pepper, PLLP in Seattle and a faculty member at the University of Washington Law School where he taught tax classes in the tax LLM program. Before that he was a tax associate at Heller Ehrman, PLLP in Seattle, and before that a tax associate in the New York office of Freshfields, Bruckhaus Derringer.
Mark grew up in Missoula, and his wife, Beth, is from Butte. When not in the office, Mark is likely to be skiing, hiking, cycling, running, whitewater-kayaking or otherwise playing with one or both of his daughters.
