Liane brings a special combination of tax expertise and business experience to her work. She strives to be two lawyers in one – a tax advisor and corporate advisor – and excels at working with privately-held companies and their owners, where there often is the greatest opportunity to put those combined skills to work. Her practice includes corporate transactions in many forms, structuring and restructuring company ownership, equity incentives and other compensation arrangements, private securities offerings, and in many cases, serving as a general legal advisor for growing companies. She assists companies and businesses at all stages of development, advising her clients on a broad range of business, corporate, partnership, mergers and acquisitions and tax matters. She also represents clients in controversies with the Internal Revenue Service and state and local taxing authorities. Liane’s strength is her ability to understand the generation, use and movement of money and value in her clients’ businesses as well as she understands the legal and tax issues.
Liane has practiced in Denver since early 2002, including five years at Jacobs Chase, and as a younger lawyer worked in the Washington D.C. offices of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy. She spent five years as the manager of an import-export business located in southern California and Central America before attending law school. Originally and always an Iowa farm kid, Liane attended the University of Kansas for three years before following a Marine to the East Coast.
